Refunds, cancellations and billing
Effective 6 October 2026 · Last updated 4 October 2026
The short version
- Apple or Google takes your money, not us. That is why cancelling and refunds happen in your store account. We never see your card.
- Cancel any time. Premium runs to the end of what you paid for, then stops. Nothing in your library is deleted.
- Trials and introductory prices convert automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before they end. The store shows the date and the price before you confirm, and the app reminds you two days before a trial ends.
- Refunds are the store's decision, under its policy and your local law. We will help you ask, and we will tell the store when the fault was ours.
- Write to us first if anything looks wrong: [email protected]. We acknowledge within 48 hours.
How billing works
Pensovo is sold only through Apple's App Store and Google Play. When you buy Premium, the store charges the payment method on your Apple ID or Google account, issues the receipt, and is the merchant of record for the sale. The store then tells us — through a service called RevenueCat — that your account is entitled to what you bought. We receive your subscription status, not your card, bank or billing address.
Three consequences follow, and this whole page is really about them:
- We cannot cancel a subscription for you, because we do not hold the billing relationship. You do it in your store account, and it takes under a minute.
- We cannot issue a refund ourselves. The store holds your money and decides refunds under its policy and your local consumer law. We can, and do, support your request.
- The price on the store's confirmation screen is the price. It is shown in your currency, includes the tax the store collects, and may differ slightly from the figures on our pages after conversion.
What you can buy
| Product | Renews? | India | Other countries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium — Monthly | Yes, monthly | ₹149/month; ₹49 for a new subscriber's first month | US $5.99 / £4.99 / CA $7.99 per month |
| Premium — Yearly | Yes, yearly | ₹899/year; ₹499 for a new subscriber's first year; no trial | US $49.99 / £39.99 / CA $64.99 per year; 7-day free trial for new subscribers |
Premium includes every catalogue summary, with audio for those we have narration for, five personal PDF summaries a month and five streak saves a month; the Terms, section 5 have the detail. Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of the month (UTC) and do not carry over.
Free trials and introductory prices
The 7-day free trial (yearly plan, outside India)
If you have never had a Pensovo trial or subscription, the yearly plan starts with 7 free days. The store shows you, before you confirm, the date the trial ends and the yearly price that will be charged on that date. If you do nothing, the store charges the yearly price when the trial ends and your subscription begins. To avoid the charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends (section 4). Cancelling during the trial keeps Premium on until the trial's last day, free.
The app reminds you two days before the trial ends, and Apple and Google send their own notice of the coming charge, with the date and the price.
Introductory prices (India)
New subscribers in India pay ₹49 for the first month of the monthly plan, or ₹499 for the first year of the yearly plan. When that period ends, the plan renews at the standard price — ₹149 a month or ₹899 a year — unless you cancelled at least 24 hours before. Both prices, and the date the standard price starts, are shown by the store before you buy and in your store subscription settings afterwards.
Eligibility
The store decides who is eligible for a trial or introductory offer, usually once per Apple ID or Google account. If the store shows you a full price rather than an offer, that is why; we cannot override it.
How to cancel
The fastest route is inside Pensovo: Settings → Manage plan, which opens your store's subscription screen directly. Or go straight to the store:
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
- Tap Pensovo.
- Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial) and confirm.
You can also do this at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
Android
- Open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Tap Pensovo.
- Tap Cancel subscription and confirm.
You can also do this at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
Three things to know. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period, not immediately, and you keep Premium until then. Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal, trial end or introductory-price end to be sure the next charge does not go through. And deleting the Pensovo app, or deleting your Pensovo account, does not cancel the subscription — the store will keep billing until you cancel there.
If you cannot find the subscription in your store account, it was probably bought under a different Apple ID or Google account, or on the other platform. Write to us with the receipt email and we will tell you which.
Refunds on iPhone and iPad (Apple)
Apple decides refunds for App Store purchases. To ask:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID you bought with.
- Choose Request a refund, pick the reason, then pick the Pensovo purchase.
- Submit. Apple usually answers within 48 hours; approved refunds go back to the original payment method.
Apple's published policy is that all sales are final unless local law says otherwise, but in practice Apple grants refunds for accidental purchases, purchases that did not work, and unused renewals, at its discretion. Apple does not tell us why it refuses a request. If Apple refuses and you believe the fault was ours — the feature you paid for did not work — write to us; we will confirm the problem to you in writing, which you can show Apple on a second request, and where the law in your country entitles you to a refund we will see that you get one.
Refunds on Android (Google Play)
Google Play handles refunds in two ways:
- Within 48 hours of a purchase, you can ask Google directly at play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory (find the order, choose Request a refund or Report a problem). Google usually decides within a day or two.
- After 48 hours, Google refers the request to the developer. Email us at [email protected] with the order number (it starts with GPA.) and what went wrong. We decide these under the principles in section 11 and process approved refunds through the Play Console; the money goes back to your original payment method, usually within a week.
Google Play's own policy is at support.google.com/googleplay/answer/2479637.
What happens after you cancel
Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for, then the app returns to the free plan. Nothing is deleted. Your library, notes, page photos, streak history, collections, shared pages and every personal summary already written stay exactly as they were. Streak saves already applied are not reversed. If you resubscribe later, you pick up where you left off, though you may not be eligible for a trial or introductory price a second time.
India
If you are in India, in addition to the store routes above:
- Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 are untouched by anything on this page or in the store's terms. A service that is deficient, or an unfair trade practice, can be taken to the National Consumer Helpline (call 1915, or consumerhelpline.gov.in) and to a District, State or National Consumer Commission, including online through e-Daakhil.
- Our Grievance Officer for consumer complaints is Amol Bharmoria, Designated Partner, [email protected], Snakescript Solutions LLP, E-91, Phase 8, Industrial Area, Sector 73, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), Punjab 160071. We acknowledge within 48 hours and resolve within one month, the timelines the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 set.
- No cancellation charges. We never charge you for cancelling, and there is no minimum term beyond the period you have paid for.
- Prices include GST, and the store's invoice is your tax invoice.
- Refund timing. Where the store approves a refund, it is returned to your original payment method; UPI and card refunds in India are typically credited within 5–7 working days of approval, in line with RBI guidance.
- There are no pre-ticked boxes and no consent given by default anywhere in Pensovo.
Canada and Quebec
If you live in Canada, your province's consumer protection law applies to your subscription and prevails over anything inconsistent here or in the store's terms. In every province:
- You received, before buying, the information the law requires for an internet or distance agreement — who we are and how to reach us, what you are buying, the price and billing period, that it renews and how, and how to cancel. The store's confirmation email is your copy of the agreement; keep it.
- If that information was not given, or the copy was not delivered, most provinces give you a cancellation right (typically 7 days from receiving the copy, or up to 30 days to a year where it was never provided, depending on the province) with a full refund within 15 days. Tell us and the store in writing if you believe this applies.
- You may cancel at any time for the future; the subscription runs to the end of the paid period and we charge nothing after.
- Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2023, once in force, will require your express agreement before any renewal that changes the terms and a continuing right to cancel; we meet both already.
Quebec
Pensovo is not currently offered in Quebec (the app is English-only; see the Terms). If you subscribed from Quebec despite the in-app notice, write to us and we will support a full refund through the store. The rights below are stated so that they are on the record for when a French version is available. Pensovo n’est pas offert au Québec pour l’instant; si vous vous êtes abonné malgré l’avis, écrivez-nous et nous appuierons un remboursement complet.
If you live in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act (CQLR c. P-40.1), including the online-subscription rules added by Bill 10 and in force since 12 September 2026, gives you these additional protections:
- Notice before a trial or introductory price ends. You are entitled to written notice, between 2 and 10 days before the end, of the end date and the price that follows. If you did not receive it, you may ask for a refund of the first charge at the new price.
- Notice before any renewal at a new price, in writing, before it takes effect.
- Cancelling without obstacles. You may cancel at any time by notice; the app links you to the store's cancellation screen and to this page. Nobody will try to talk you out of it, and nothing beyond confirming the cancellation is required.
- Refund within 15 days of cancellation of any amount paid for the period after the cancellation, where the Act requires it (this applies to open-ended subscriptions; for a prepaid period, Premium continues to the end of what you paid for).
- Distance-contract cancellation. If the required pre-contract information was not given, or the contract copy was not sent within 15 days, you may cancel within 7 days of receiving the copy (or 30 days of the contract where it was never sent) and be refunded within 15 days. If the store does not refund you within that time, you may ask your card issuer for a chargeback under section 54.14 of the Act.
- Section 272.1. If we or the store collect a sum from you contrary to the Act, you can recover it regardless of whether a service was provided.
- You may complain to the Office de la protection du consommateur, opc.gouv.qc.ca, 1-888-672-2556.
Other countries
Pensovo is available worldwide; the sections above cover India and Canada, our first two markets. Before we promote Pensovo in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore or South Korea we will add a section here for that country. We already know the shape of some: in the EU and UK you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a digital subscription, which you agree to waive when the service starts immediately, and Apple and Google both honour it in their refund flows; the UK's subscription-contract regime, expected in spring 2027, will add reminder notices and renewal cooling-off periods; in the US, ROSCA and state automatic-renewal laws require clear disclosure, express consent and cancellation at least as easy as sign-up. If you use Pensovo from one of those countries before its section exists, your local mandatory law still applies, and the store's refund route works the same way.
Contact and response times
For anything about billing: [email protected]. Include the email on your Pensovo account, which store you bought from, and the order or receipt number if you have it. We acknowledge within 48 hours, reply in full within 3 working days, and resolve billing complaints within 30 days.
How we decide refund requests that reach us (Google Play after 48 hours; and our support of Apple requests). We say yes when: the feature you paid for did not work and we could not fix it promptly; you were charged after cancelling in time; you were charged for a renewal, trial end or introductory-price end without the notice the law in your country requires; a child or someone without authority used your account to buy; or the law in your country entitles you to it. We usually say no when the subscription was used as intended and you have simply changed your mind after the period began — but cancel, and the next period will not be charged. We apply the same rules to everyone, and we tell you the reason either way.
