Terms of Service

Who this is with

Pensovo is operated by Snakescript Solutions LLP, registered in India at E-91, Phase 8, Industrial Area, Sector 73, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali), Punjab 160071, LLPIN AAO-0202. These terms are an agreement between you and that entity.

"Pensovo", "the app" or "the service" means the Pensovo mobile apps, this website, and anything we provide through them. "You" means the person using it.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of these terms.

Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using Pensovo you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

If you use Pensovo through Apple's App Store or Google Play, that store's own terms also apply to your download and your purchase, and nothing here overrides them.

Your account

• You need an account to use Pensovo, and you must give us an email address you control.
• You must be at least 18 to hold one.
• Keep your sign-in codes to yourself. A code we email you is the whole of your account's security, so treat it as you would a password. You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happens because of something we did wrong.
• One account per person. Do not sell it, rent it, or share it with people who should be buying their own.
• Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else is using your account.

What the free account includes

Tracking what you read, reading streaks, collections, one library of everything you have logged, sharing your progress, summaries of public-domain and widely covered books, and your own notes and highlights.

These are free on a free account, with no trial period and no card required. We are not promising this list will never change — see section 10 — but we are telling you plainly that it is not a trial designed to expire.

Advertising. The free account does not currently show advertising. We may introduce ads on the free plan in future, including ads placed by a third-party ad network. If we do, we will say so in the app and update the privacy policy before they appear, and Premium will remain free of advertising. Ads will never be targeted using what you read, your notes or your reading history, and adding them to the free plan is not a change to what you are paying for under section 5.

Premium subscriptions

What Premium adds

• Streak saves — five a month on Premium (the free plan includes one, and so does a free trial until it converts to a paid month). A missed day normally resets your streak to 1; a streak save fills the gap back in. A save can only be used on the one or two most recent missed days, and a streak can never be carried by more than two saved days in a row.
• Summaries — unlimited, for the publicly available books in our catalogue, with narrated audio for those we have narration for.
• Summaries written for you — up to five books a month (the free plan includes one, in total, not monthly), written against the profile you set. We may change that allowance; if we lower it, we will tell you before it takes effect.

Monthly allowances reset on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC), not on the day you subscribed. Unused streak saves and unused monthly summaries do not carry over. The free plan's allowances are not monthly except where this page says so, and do not refill. Streak saves and summaries cannot be bought separately.

Price and billing

• Pensovo Premium — Monthly. One month, renewing every month. Includes everything listed under “What Premium adds” above.
• Pensovo Premium — Yearly. Twelve months, renewing every year. Same contents as the monthly plan, at a lower price per month.

There is also a Free plan, which costs nothing and needs no subscription. Tracking what you read is unlimited on it — shelves, page logs, streaks, notes and highlights are not metered. What it limits is everything built on top of that: one summary from our library, chosen by you and kept for good; one summary written for you from a PDF you upload, also kept for good; and one streak save a month. Only the streak save is monthly — the two summaries are a lifetime allowance and do not refill.

Premium is billed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on where you bought it. We never see or store your payment details. The price is shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency and inclusive of any tax the store collects — it differs by country, which is why it is not written out here. The store tells you the exact amount, and the period it covers, on the screen where you confirm.

Auto-renewal

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and your store charges you for the next one, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Renewal is managed by the store, not by us.

Cancelling

Cancel any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — we cannot cancel it for you, because we are not the party billing you. Your Premium features stay on until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stop.

Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies, and we have no ability to grant one. If you think something went wrong, write to us anyway — we can often help you make the case to the store.

What happens when Premium ends

Nothing is taken away. Your library, notes, highlights, collections and streak history stay exactly as they are; the Premium features simply stop being available. Streak saves already applied are not reversed.

Price changes

If we change the price of a subscription, we will give you notice through the app or by email before it affects a renewal, and the store will ask you to consent where its rules require it. You can always cancel instead.

Summaries and AI content

Some summaries in Pensovo, including every personal summary, are generated by a language model. This has consequences you should hold onto:

• They can be wrong. A generated summary can misstate what a book says, attribute things to the wrong person, or invent a detail that reads perfectly plausibly. We do not check each one.
• They are not the book. They are an aid to deciding what to read and to remembering what you read, not a replacement for reading it.
• They are not advice. Nothing generated in Pensovo is medical, legal, financial, psychological or professional advice, whatever the book is about and however confidently it is phrased. Do not act on one in place of a qualified person.
• They are not endorsements. A summary framed for your situation is a piece of writing about a book, not our recommendation about your life.

What you write is yours

Your notes, highlights, collections and reading history belong to you. We claim no ownership of them.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, back it up, and display it back to you across your devices. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies sitting in backups until those rotate out.

We do not use your notes or highlights to train AI models, and we do not publish them anywhere. If you use the sharing feature, you choose what goes out and where.

Acceptable use

Do not:

• Break the law with it, or use it to harm someone.
• Try to get at other people's accounts or data, or at parts of our systems you have not been given.
• Scrape, bulk-download or resell content from the service, or run automated clients against our API beyond normal personal use.
• Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or anything illegal.
• Work around the limits on a free or Premium account, including by creating accounts to get more of a monthly allowance.
• Interfere with the service's operation, or with anyone else's use of it.

We may suspend or close accounts that do these things — see section 11.

Books and copyright

Pensovo does not sell, host or distribute the books you track. Titles, authors and cover images are used to identify a work; those belong to their rightsholders.

Summaries in Pensovo are our own descriptions of a work, or descriptions generated for you. They are not extracts, and they are not a substitute for buying the book.

If you are a rightsholder and believe something in Pensovo infringes your rights, write to [email protected] with enough detail to identify the work and the material, and we will review it promptly.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Pensovo running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Maintenance, outages at our providers, and problems we have not thought of all happen.

We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something you are paying for, or change Premium materially to your disadvantage, we will tell you beforehand and you can cancel. If we ever shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your library first.

Quebec. Pensovo is available in English only and is not offered to residents of Quebec until a French version is ready. If the app detects that it is being used from Quebec it will show a notice and will not let you sign in or buy anything. We will not knowingly accept a subscription from Quebec, and if one is taken out in error we will support a refund through the store. Pensovo n’est offert qu’en anglais et n’est pas offert aux résidents du Québec tant qu’une version française n’est pas prête.

Ending it

You can stop at any time: cancel any subscription in your store account, and delete your account in the app. Deleting the account deletes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your use puts the service or other users at risk, or if we are required to by law. Except where the breach is serious or the law prevents it, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right. If we close your account without cause, and you have paid for a subscription period, we will refund the unused part of it where the store allows us to.

Disclaimers

Pensovo is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties — that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose of yours.

We do not warrant that summaries, reading data or streak counts are accurate or complete. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — write to us and we will send you a copy of what we hold.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or opportunity, or for loss of data where you could reasonably have kept a copy.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these terms is limited to the amount we actually received for your use of Pensovo in the 12 months before the claim — what you paid, less the commission Apple or Google took. We never hold the full price: the store collects it and remits us a share. If you have paid nothing, that is nothing.

This is a ceiling on what could be recovered, not a sum anyone is owed. It does not create a right to a payment, and it is not a refund route: refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies, as section 5 says.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Mohali, Punjab have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep any right you have to bring proceedings in your own country's courts.

Before going to court, please write to us — most things are quicker to fix that way.
