Free printable reading tracker for adults

Most printable reading trackers are designed for children or for Instagram. This one is for an adult who wants a row of boxes on the fridge and nothing else.

A month grid with reading days marked, the visual model for the printable tracker
The printable is this, on paper: cross off the days you read, log the books below.

The short answer

This is a plain, adult printable reading tracker: one page per month, with a row of 31 day boxes to cross off, a book log (title, author, pages, started, finished, rating) and a one-line column for what you took from each book. Download the PDF (A4 and US Letter on separate pages), print it, pin it where you read. It is deliberately undecorated; decorated trackers are lovely and get abandoned by March.

  • Cross off days, not pages. The row of boxes is the habit; the log is the record.
  • Pin it where you read, not where you work.
  • One line per finished book. It ages better than the rating.
  • Go digital when you want to search it, or when the page runs out mid-year.

How to use a paper reading tracker so it survives

  1. Cross off the day when you close the book. Not in the morning, not at the weekend. The cross is the habit.
  2. Keep the pen with the page. Most missed days are a missing pen.
  3. Do not backfill. An empty box is information, not failure. Start again tomorrow.
  4. Fill the totals on the last day of the month and carry the days-read number to the next sheet, so the year has a running score.
  5. Photograph the finished sheet before you file it. Paper goes missing in a move.
Mon Tue Wed Thu – Fri Sat Sun A week on the printable: six crosses, one blank. The blank is data.
Paper trackers fail when a blank box feels like a verdict. It is a record of a Wednesday.

Printable or app?

Paper is visible, free and needs no phone in bed — the best argument for it. It cannot be searched, sorted or counted without a pencil, and it runs out: a page holds ten books, and a good month holds eleven. The usual arc is paper for the first few months of a new habit, then an app when you want to know "what did I read in March" and cannot find out. The app version of this sheet is a streak calendar with a two-tap log; the paper version is on the fridge. Some readers keep both.

In Pensovo The calendar shows every day you read with the covers you read that day, the streak counts the row of boxes for you, and each finished book takes one line. It is the printable, kept.

Common questions

Is this printable reading tracker free?

Yes. Download the PDF, print as many copies as you like for personal use.

What size is the printable?

The PDF has two pages: one A4 and one US Letter. Print the page for your paper size.

How do I track reading with a printable?

Cross off each day you read anything, log each book on a row with its dates and pages, write one line when you finish, and total the month on the last day.

Is this tracker for kids or adults?

Adults. It is plain and has no stickers or rewards. For children, a chart with a reward row works better.

What if I read more than ten books in a month?

Print a second sheet, or move the log to an app and keep the paper for the day boxes.

Can I use this for audiobooks?

Yes. A listening day is a reading day; cross the box and log the book with its hours in the pages column.
